NACTVET Announces 145,000 Selections for Certificate & Diploma Programmes 2025/2026 (2025)

Unveiling the Selection Process: NACTVET Announces 145,575 Applicants for Certificate and Diploma Programs in Tanzania

Dodoma, Tanzania: The National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) has recently unveiled the selection results for the 2025/2026 academic year, with a remarkable 145,575 applicants chosen for various certificate and diploma programs. This announcement comes as a significant step towards addressing the country's technical and vocational education needs.

In a statement made by NACTVET Executive Secretary Dr. Mwajuma Lingwanda, the selection process was coordinated meticulously from May 28 to October 28, 2025. The council's focus extended to a wide range of programs, encompassing health and allied sciences, as well as non-health fields, ensuring a comprehensive approach to education.

Dr. Lingwanda highlighted the distinct admission procedures for health and allied sciences on the mainland and Zanzibar. Applications for mainland programs were submitted through the Central Admission System (CAS), while Zanzibar applicants directly engaged with institutions. The selection process yielded impressive results, with 39,553 applicants, accounting for 80%, successfully securing their places.

Of this group, a notable 51% were women (20,131 applicants), and 49% were men (19,422 applicants), indicating a balanced gender representation in the selected cohort.

For non-health programs, a slightly different approach was taken. Applications were submitted directly to institutions, which then forwarded the names to NACTVET for verification. Out of the 108,109 names received, an impressive 98% (106,022 applicants) met the required qualifications for their preferred programs.

However, Dr. Lingwanda also shed light on the challenges encountered during the admissions process. She noted that some institutions selected applicants who did not meet the necessary qualifications, particularly those that did not utilize the Central Admission System. Additionally, colleges faced issues with submitting applications on behalf of students without their consent or using incorrect phone numbers.

To address these concerns, NACTVET implemented a corrective measure, allowing applicants to revise their choices and reapply for programs that aligned with their qualifications. This window of opportunity remains open until November 30, 2025, providing a second chance for those who may have missed the initial selection.

Furthermore, Dr. Lingwanda emphasized the council's commitment to raising awareness among students about the importance of accurate information during applications. She directed all training institutions to register only officially selected students by NACTVET and to ensure their physical reporting to campuses within the designated period, from November 17 to December 12, 2025.

In a stern warning, she stated that no institution is permitted to admit students who were not selected, and no student should be registered if they fail to report physically. NACTVET has also established a special help desk to provide assistance to both students and institutions throughout the registration period, ensuring a smooth and fair process for all.
